There are many known and proven treatments for yeast infection but most people are seeking home remedies for yeast infection that they can use without having to go to the doctor for an embarrassing examination. Typically yeast infection diagnosis might require an exam and your doctor will probably prescribe some sort of pill to take to eradicate the infection. But why go through this cost when there are natural remedies that might work just as well?

Luckily, for those people who do not want to spend their money on products from drugstores that can cure yeast infection, there are natural remedies which can be found easily in their own homes. To give you some ideas on how to do treat your infection using natural and home remedies, here is a list of the 5 most popular yeast infection treatments.

• Tea Tree Oil. One of the most common home remedies for yeast infection, tea tree oil is commonly used to treat infection caused by fungus. It is a tried and tested home remedy for vaginal yeast infection. What you can do is to dilute tea tree oil first before applying it to the vaginal area. Do this twice a day, in the morning and at night, and only for two days.

• Yogurt. You can put a small amount of yogurt using a tablespoon in the vagina every night until the infection goes away. You can also use a tampon with yogurt. Aside from these, eating yogurt everyday helps cure vaginal yeast infection.

• Honey. Even though it is the most uncomfortable among all the home remedies for yeast infections, honey is still used by many people to cure yeast infection. You can apply a generous amount of honey in the vaginal area and let it sit for 20 minutes two times every day. Also, eating honey can help quite a bit as it has powerful antibiotic properties.

• Garlic. It might be smelly and it might hurt a bit, but garlic is a known home remedy for yeast infections. You can make a garlic paste and apply it around the infected area. Like honey, garlic can also help when eaten so if you don't want the sting of applying it topically, try adding some garlic to your meals each day.

These home remedies above will work, not only to treat an ongoing infection, but adopting some of these habits such as eating garlic and honey daily can help insure that yeast infections don’t come back to plague you.

Home remedies for yeast infection can be effective especially if you catch the infection in it’s early stages. The longer it has gone on for, the more yeast you will be harboring and the harder it will be to get rid of. In some cases, pharmaceutical drugs may be necessary to knock a stubborn and long lasting infection. However, if you are attuned to the early signs of yeast infection, you can try one of these remedies right away and hopefully not have to suffer for too long!
